What I’m thinking when I walk into the gym: “Don’t be intimidated by all the pretty people. Don’t be intimidated by all the pretty people…”
Seriously, is there some rule that you have to be a size 2 and gorgeous before you join a gym?

I don’t like going to the gym for that very reason. I used to scoff and ask myself why the heck THEY had to be at the gym, they were already pretty and perfect. Then I realized that they have to STAY that way too. I still don’t like going to the gym though!

Girl I think that is how the brains of women everywhere work. Mine certainly thinks that way!!!

no.. but by the looks ya get from some of them, you’d think that they happen to think there is.
i try to distract myself with the fact that since i weigh a lot more than the beanpoles, i’m burning a ton more calories for doing the same thing.
oh.. and the ones shooting the really snotty “eww shes so fat” type looks, i amuse myself with realizing my butt is probably her worst nightmare… try to get on the machine in front of them, and try to move that much harder or faster to make sure it bounces around as much as it can to give her the full frightening effect.
amuses me anyway. poor petty pretty girl. lol

LOL! You can come to my gym – it’s old fogey-ville around these parts!

At least you made it to the gym. My mind works the same way too…unfortunately.

I’m the SAME way! Why is it that we think that way? They had to get skinny somehow too, or like Trudy said, they have to stay that way. Think of it this way…at least you know the skinny people at the gym have to WORK to have the bodies they do. There are some stupid skinny people who can eat and do whatever they want and never gain a pound! Grrr! Those are the ones it’s no fun to be around.

I’m so thankful my gym has a parent and tot room! Before kids, I really had a hard time going to the gym and working out with all the skinny, pretty people!!! I still have to see some really hot mom’s working out.. but more often, there’s woman my size (often bigger) working out with me now.
Just remember.. everyone started out somewhere! Those pretty girls were once probably a few lbs heavier.

You are too funny.
And so right!!

I think they hire these lanky people to promote their gyms. If they can look like that by just spending 30-60minutes a day or just 3 times a week, so can anyone.
Or like Laura said “everyone started out somewhere.” It just takes more work to keep it that thin.

I always feel like people are watching me and how bad I suck at exercising! I think it’s normal….even people who go to the gym quite a bit still feel that way, I bet.

Ugh, I know exactly what you mean. I always hate the way my thighs look compared to everyone else’s thighs! That’s why I love those capri length work out sweats.

LOL! Join the YMCA where normal people work out!

But I would have to drive about 45 minutes to get to the YMCA. The gym is across the street from my job.

This is my mantra every time I go in.
They make it so hard for me to keep the gym a part of my regular routine.

just passing thru…..
was trying to get my cancer-treatment-brain working; happened on your site….
my random thoughts…
you have a cute daughter…
unfortunately, not much here to help get my mushy brain working better….
not sure why you thought it important to say you’re a christian mom…. i don’t think that one’s faith says much about them as a person….
I think you have great looking hair…
I can’t believe you’ll be single long… the 2 of you would make someone a very nice family.
well guess that’s it… gonna try more to get my brain working….
